The Rotary Club of Richmond hold a photo contest to engage Richmond youth to capture the Spirit of Richmond from their own perspective. The purpose was to instil community involvement and community spirit in the schools and through the City at large. Proceeds from the event went back to youth via Rotary Youth endeavours such as scholarships, Youth Exchange and other Rotary Youth projects.

Allen Bargen , who is president of the Richmond Photo Club and was one of the judges for the contest, said: "The photographs submitted for this contest included a wide range of topics and points of interest in Richmond. The quality and style of the photos is quite remarkable, given the ages of the competitors. They demonstrated a skill for seeing good composition and found subjects that were colourful and vibrant. We have no doubt there will be future excellent photographers emerging from the group that participated in this event."
