Rotary Club of Richmond held the Moon Festival Social on September 15th, 2016 at the large court yard garden/lounge facility of Prado Apartment Complex, 70 Members, family and friends enjoyed a fun evening.

The Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival is always celebrated on the eighth full moon of the lunar calendar. This year It happened to be on September 15th, 2016 of our solar calendar. Tradition believes that the eighth full moon is always the fullest, the brightest, the biggest and the most romantic moon of the year.

We had perfect weather, the sky was clear, the temperature was warm and the moon was big, bright and beautiful.

While the theme of the evening is to celebrate the the Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival, the main purpose is Rotary fellowship, an opportunity to meet fellow Rotarians, their family, friends and potential members. We are delighted to have members and friends from Rotary Club of Steveston, Rotary club of Richmond Sunset, Rotary club of Vancouver Centennial joined us for this occasion. A special thanks extended to President Eric Wang of the Sunset Club for his club’s strong participation (more than 10 people) and support; a special thanks also extended to AG Rick Lewall and Carlene for their constant participation and support our club.

Another special thanks goes to the musicians Brian and Wendy Maxwell (Lewis and Wade), They have over 40 years of experience performing in cruise ships and lounges.  Their performance was truly impressive and enjoyed by all, they even play music to accompany some Chinese sing along songs.

The delicious Chinese buffet was catered by Continental Seafood Restaurant;  local made mini moon cake and small gifts donated by members were given to everyone as a token.

The party concluded around 9:00 pm and Rotary Club of Richmond was happy about this very enjoyable experience.

While I thank everyone for attending, I want to thank specifically those members (Henry, Barbara, Antonio, Keith, Becky and Daphne) who arrived early and stayed behind late to make sure everything was looked after and everything ran smoothly. - James Hsieh, President 2016-2017
