In a fortunate turn of events on Oct 14, the rain and wind stopped for just a moment at the Rotary Hospice House’s 10th Anniversary Tea when the afternoon’s activities moved briefly out front of the building where (Photo: L to R) Mayor Malcolm Brodie, MLA Linda Reid, Major Juan Burry (Executive Director, Rotary Hospice House), MP Joe Peschisolido, Nancy Yurkovich, MLA John Yap and Salvation Army BC Divisional Commander Lieutenant Colonel Brian Venables planted a commemorative dogwood tree, donated by the Home Depot in Richmond, and unveiled a sign celebrating Rotary Hospice House’s 10 years of service to the community.

Mayor Brodie, Nancy Yurkovich and Linda Reid were all at the opening of the house 10 years ago and reunited for this wonderful milestone. Other guests included staff, volunteers, members of Vancouver Coastal Health’s Richmond Integrated Palliative Care Team. Rotary Club of Richmond and past residents' family members. Entertainment was provided by James Malmberg and Larissa Lebeda of the Richmond Orchestra and refreshments were sponsored by Save on Foods. The wet and windy weather could not dampen the warmth of this lovely occasion. - Major Juan Burry
