Rotary Foundation Centennial Celebration

On Sat Nov 26, Rotary Foundation Centennial Celebration was held as part of the Winter Wonderland Celebrations at the Richmond City Hall. The event is presented by the Richmond Sunset Club. Our club members and Rotaractors participated in this important event.

Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie, MP Alice Wong, Rotary Director PDG Dan Rohrs, DG Lyn Stroshin was present for the kick off. Richmond Sunset Club President Eric Wang was excited to receive a letter from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with his welcome wishes for the Celebration.

Cambie Interact Installation

Our Nov 23 meeting was held at H J Cambie Secondary School where over 25 students were inducted into the Rotary world of Interact. DG Lyn Stroshin performed the induction while eight of our club members plus ADG Rick Lewall, District Interact Chair Jim Ling and several other guests looked on. The students were each introduced by their President Gurleen and received both an Interact pin as well as a Rotary Serving Humanity theme pin from DG Lyn. Gurleen also outlined the recent fundraising conducted by the Interact Club which involved costumes for their teachers. Funds raised were donated to the Arts Umbrella in Vancouver. Everyone ’tucked ’ into the pizza and cookies after the induction.

Congratulation to AG Rick Lewall !

Our Assistant Governor Rick Lewall has received the prestigious Citizen of the Year Award from the Delta Chamber of Commerce at its Hats Off Awards event on November 25, 2016, for his extraordinary service to the community.

AG Rick is a familiar face in our club, he has been very supportive with all our Club events. He was past president of the Tsawwassen Club, Treasurer of the Sports Hall of Fame, President of the Boundary Bay Bluebacks Swim Club and was actively involved in Fundraising for the Delta Gymnastics new facility. Rick is also a Board member at KinVillage.
