President Chris invite all members to attend our luncheon. Share your suggestions and ideas.
Wed Aug 26 Luncheon
Chris and Penny Offer, both past Governors, will be talking about their recent NID trip. This talk is most appropriate as it so closely coincides with the recent announcement that Africa has been polio free for one year. This leaves only Afghanistan and Pakistan with existing cases of polio.
My apology while updating our meeting place in Google Business, I accidentally closed the location. Now when searching Richmond Club with Google (link here) right hand side shows "permanently closed". I submitted to google and still waiting for them to reopen. Please contact me at editor162@hotmail.com if you have solution. Also I could not find Four Point Sheraton from the address to change to Felicos. HELP!
A mysterious, tropical paradise
Mauritius! A mysterious, tropical paradise? Republic of Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi) off the southeast coast of the continent of Africa. It is about 1/16 the size of Vancouver Island with a population of 1.2 million. One of our newest members, Daniel Wang, claims Maruitius as home. This little gem of information was part of his classification talk on August 12th luncheon.
Honorary Members Tony, Helge and Becky also joined us today to hear about Daniel's education in England, Germany and USA, his partner who works at UBC and his career at Co-operators Insurance in Richmond. We learned he can speak French and German, he is passionate for community service and has a keen interest in the area of photography. Perhaps we may now have an official club photographer. Daniel, thanks for presenting your classification talk and letting us get to know you a bit better. We are looking forward to working with you on our service projects.
Antonio now Official
Antonio Lee is officially a member of the Rotary Club of Richmond, having received his name badge last week. As was mentioned in his introduction and welcome, he is now a "somebody". Antonio, we hope your back injury is not serious and you are back to 100%.
