Supporting Seniors
Richmond Rotary supports low-income Seniors on Christmas eve.

As part of an annual Christmas eve tradition, Richmond Rotary visited the Minoru Active Living Centre and donated 5000 masks and $1000 to the Minoru Seniors Society.

Richmond Rotary raised the funds from it's own membership. The money supported a Christmas Dinner for low-income seniors, and Richmond Rotarians helped deliver the dinner to seniors in-need on Christmas eve.

The Minoru Seniors Society is a critical pillar for Richmond seniors, improving quality of life and delivering innovative and exceptional programs and services.

Many seniors are experiencing isolation because of the pandemic. As we celebrate the Holiday Season, it is even more critical to support those who are isolated and alone.  Low-income seniors in particular are experiencing hardship at this time, making this initiative even more important.

Richmond Christmas Fund
Richmond Rotary donates $3,000 to the Richmond Christmas Fund.

The Christmas Season is one of the busiest times of the year for Richmond Rotary. Every year, Richmond Rotary raises money, volunteers its time, and donates to causes and groups that are less fortunate. While the Christmas and Holiday season is a festive time, and a time to celebrate, it's also a challenging period for many people in our communities, including many Richmondites.

That is why on December 16th, 2021, Richmond Rotary raised $3000 from it's members to donate to the Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, Richmond Christmas Fund. Richmond Rotarians, donating approximately $100 each (some more), were able to mobilize quickly to raise the money and issue a cheque days later.

Every year, the Christmas Fund distributes food vouchers, toys, books, sports equipment, and gift cards to people in-need in Richmond. The program is supported by nearly 150 volunteers.  Richmond residents, businesses, and community groups, such as the Richmond Rotary, donate cash and toys to support the annual fund.

We were honored to present the cheque to President and CEO of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, Ed Gavsie (far right). Richmond Rotary is proud that it's contribution helped improve someone's Christmas and Holiday season in our community of Richmond.
