Wednesday Meeting Recap
Elna Agala, Rotary World Help.

On Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, Richmond Rotary met with Elna Agala of Rotary World Help.

Rotary World Help is an all volunteer registered non-profit society made up of local Rotary clubs. It is a British Columbia based group, with all members from the province. RWH club members have sponsored, organized, and coordinated countless humanitarian deliveries around the world.

RWH sends goods to people in need. Through donations, it gathers, sorts, records, and ships humanitarian disaster relief goods to underdeveloped countries that have people requiring relief. The goods include medical, dental, optical, educational, sports and other disaster relief goods.  The products are shipped in 20′ or 40′ containers

RWH operates through direct Rotary club funding. All costs are paid by Rotary clubs directly and indirectly, and all goods are shipped directly from Rotary Club to Rotary Club, to ensure the beneficiaries of the aid receive the goods. Through different locations in BC, Rotary club`s are packing, storing and organizing deliveries right in our backyard, to be sent to people in need around the world.

There are 40 member clubs of RWH - all from BC.

As of today, RWH has shipped 424 containers with an estimated value of $145 Million, to 61 countries, supporting 12,480,000 people!

For only $10 a year, your club also become a member of the RWH. As a RWH member, your club can offer to sponsor a container, or volunteer to load a container.

A member club can sponsor all or part of a shipment of a 40’ container to a partnering Rotary club in another country. You do this by covering the shipping costs plus a contribution to RWH of $1,500 CDN.  The $1,500 administration fee per container helps RWH cover its administration costs, warehousing, pick-up and operation costs of its truck to gather the goods being shipped.

Some highlights of RWH include:

-Sending 5 fire engines to El Salvador in 2008/2009

-4,000 books to South Africa

-Children`s Soccer T-Shirts to South America
