Million Dollar Dinner Raised 3.3 million
To celebrate The Rotary Foundation 100 years of doing good in the world, on Jan 9, 2017 District 5040 & 5050 held a Million Dollar dinner which raised US $3.3 million, the 2nd highest total of all the Million Dollar Dinners to date in Zone 24.

Rotary International President John Germ was the keynote speaker, he spoke about the DREAMS that have become realities. We are The Rotary Foundation and we are following a dream... Rotary serving humanity.

Rotary Founder Paul Harris in 1905 had a dream of fellowship and service, which resulted in an international organization with more than 1.2 million members.

In 1917 RI President Arch Klumph had a dream of creating an endowment fund for doing good in the world. It’s initial contribution of US $26.50 in 1918 has become the base of our  Rotary Foundation.

In 1979 RI President, Sir Clem Renouf, had a dream “Could Rotary do something of the magnitude of eradicating smallpox in the world?” In 1988, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative was launched. At that time, polo was endemic in more than 125 countries and the disease has been confined to three countries - Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.

Thanks to President Elect Debbie and President Nominee Drew for representing the Rotary Club of Richmond at the million dollar dinner. They also attended the Ladner Splash Park tour that afternoon.
