Celebrated Christmas with Rotary Family
Every year we look forward to the spirit of the festive season and the chance to share that spirit with our Rotary friends and Rotary family.  This year we enjoyed the company of our visitors, ex-member Peter and Usha Raju, a good friend Linda Wong, Emily Lin, guest of Dean Hsieh, Lois and Gilles Bouchard both Paul Harris Fellows and member partners, Anita, Agnes, Arlene, Zorina, Lorraine,Cecilia and Ken.

Barbara organized a gift exchange with a twist of exchange rules, where once your turn was announced, you could pick from the gift table or steal from somebody else, and theft victims could steal again from another. Great lengths were taken to preserve your treasured selection, but many lost their advantage.....more than once.  Thanks Barbara, for a most entertaining way to enjoy this "take" on Christmas gifting.

After the fun subsided, we acknowledged several long serving Rotarians, Drew and Mahase for 30 years, President James for 35 years and Philip for 37 years.  Each was presented a small Christmas gift as a token of appreciation.

As it is Christmas, and as the evening drew to a end, we closed festivities with singing a few carols.  James H, thanks for the song sheets and extra Xmas gifts.  James K, thanks for bringing the sound system, Becky, thanks for the Christmas tins, cookies and the stickers on the chairs, Barbara, thanks for the gift taking entertainment.  We wish everyone a joyous and safe festive season, and see everyone on Jan 4th to start the new year with a fabulous visitor as RI Director Dean Rohrs will be speaking at our luncheon at the Marriott.

$1,600 to Richmond Christmas Fund
Ed Gavsie, CEO of Richmond Cares Richmond Gives, joined our Dec 14 luncheon to speak to us about the Annual Christmas Fund and the continuing need to address the deserving families who don't have the resources to provide a joyous Christmas to their children.  Last year the Christmas Fund provided support and services to 2,211 clients in Richmond, a figure that seems to most of us, quite unbelievable considering the wealth of this community.  Yet, Mr. Gavsie said there are neighbourhoods in Richmond where families are struggling.  Fortunately, this community comes their aid every year, with support from other Rotarians, The Chamber of Commerce, Auto Mall, Airport Authority, just to name a few. Today, President James presented $1,600 to the Richmond Christmas Fund as a contribution from members of The Rotary Club of Richmond.
