Met Gladys Thomas
President of the Foundation for Children of Haiti.
On Wednesday Oct 9, Presdent Ken Dennis, Treasurer Philip Li and PP Chris Browne had the opportunity to listen to Gladys Thomas at the Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset meeting.

Gladys Thomas is the recipient of the Clinton Award and an amazing woman. For over 30 years, she has dedicated her life to helping children in need and further expanding the educational facilities available to them. Gladys spoke of the new school project in the works and thanked The Rotary Club of Richmond, Richmond Sunset and The Fire Fighter Foundations for their support in moving forward with this project.

The school will have room for 300 students, it will allow the foundation’s orphanage to increase its capacity and include more room for special needs children. Total cost of the project is $500,000.

Thomas started her work when she was 26, taking over a rundown orphanage where 45 children lived. “I learned that this is what life is all about — you receive and you give,” Thomas said. “You feel this within yourself, that this is the right thing to do. When you see the successes or the failures, it comes from the heart. And it’s the most wonderful work anyone can do. And I feel very privileged to have been able to touch the lives of so many children in Haiti.” - See more at Richmond News
