President Ken Dennis is continuing his 2nd year of Presidency. Board of Directors will be inducted. We also has two new members being inducted to our club. We invite you to join us to celebrate this important event.

Juan Burry - new member
 
Major Juan Burry is the Executive Director of the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House since 2013.
 
He was Executive Director of The Salvation Army Additions & Rehabilitation Centre, Victoria from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that he was Director of The Salvation Army Community and Family Services, Victoria for over 5 years.
 
He holds a degree in Bachelor of Arts at the William and Catherine Booth College.
James Hsieh - new member
 
James just finished serving his 6 years term (2008-2014) in April, 2014 as a Board member with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
 
He worked at Simon Fraser University as a Business Co-operative Education Coordinator and a Senior Lecturer in the field of Accounting since 1984 and retired from that position in March 2008. Previously, James had also taught at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, B.C. as a business instructor between 1976 and 1980. 
 
James Hsieh has a Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon. Professionally James is a Chartered Accountant and had worked for more than ten years as an Audit Manager, tax supervisor and staff accountant at some local, national and international Chartered Accountants firms.
 
In his spare time, James has been actively involved with many community groups and organizations as a volunteer. Such as the Canadian Red Cross Society, the Rotary Club of Vancouver Chinatown, SUCCESS, the Association of Chinese Canadian Professionals, Touch Stone Family Association, Richmond City’s Sister City Committee, Richmond Chinese Community Association, Vancouver Racquets Club, etc...
 
James Hsieh’s first post secondary degree actually was in Journalism from a university in Taiwan and James had worked as a journalist for an international news agency for a couple of years before he decided to immigrate to North America in 1970.  With the journalism background and his strong personal interests in current events for all these years, James has been quite active currently with various Chinese Media in Lower Mainland area as a news/current events commentator as well
 
As of James Hsieh’s personal interests and hobbies, James enjoys playing Badminton, Swimming, Hiking, Ball Room Dancing, Singing, Martial Arts, Traveling, Driving around, Attending cultural events, Small group conversations among friends, Collecting unique and special things, Good food and drink, Listening to music and General Readings.
