The Rotary Club of Richmond sponsored Jason Chow, a Physics/Science Teacher from Richmond Secondary School to Kenya 2019 VTT trip. The trip was an international educator exchange in rural Kenya led by Past District Governor John Anderson. Despite a very large student population, the schools in rural Kenya have limited infrastructure and technology. Over two weeks, Canadian and Kenyan teachers worked together with computers and other resources gifted by a Rotary Foundation global grant and collaborated to design 21st century lesson plans. Energized and informed about brain-based teaching and digital literacy, teacher partners spent several of their days together applying their new understanding to the classroom. Critical thinking, creative problem solving, communication and collaboration, and multi-cultural understanding all became tangible as they strove together to develop lessons that integrate vital 21st century skills across the newly adopted Kenya Competency Based Curriculum. Teachers from both BC and Kenya found the experience inspiring and trans-formative! Read more from the trip blog…. Thank you Jason for the presentation, view presentation here....
