Rotary Councils give us a voice in how our organization is governed. Each district chooses a representative for a three-year term, they represent their districts at the annual Council on Resolutions meetings and at the Council on Legislation during their term. The Council on Resolutions meets online every year to vote on proposed resolutions. Resolutions are requests to the Board or the Trustees to take an action that is outside the purview of the constitutional documents. Every three years, representatives from Rotary districts around the world meet at the Council on Legislation in Chicago, Illinois, USA, to review and vote on proposed changes to the constitutional documents that govern Rotary International. 2019 Council considered more than 100 proposals. Some important highlights of 2019 Council on Legislation were elevated the status of Rotaract clubs; pursue changing RI’s charitable status; approved a modest increase of $1 a year for each of three years, beginning in 2020-21.
