Traditions of Chinese Lion Dance
"Do you know the traditions of Chinese Lion Dance?  Thanks Ken Low, President of the Canada International Health Qigong Association and the Canada Sport Sanshou Federation, for providing us the insights of Lion Dancing!

In the Chinese culture, the lion symbolizes power, strength, and wisdom.  The Lion Dance movements and its music of beating rhythm is to drive away evil spirits and brings prosperity.  The musical instruments accompanying the dance include drums, cymbals, and gongs.

Different colours of the lion's furry body signify the age and character of the lions.  The oldest lion is in white fur; the youngest one in black (it is also a fighter).  Red lions are mostly for event celebrations.

Watching lion dance performance is very entertaining.  It energizes you by its upbeat music, the Chinese martial arts element and the lovely movements of the lions' eyelids and ears."

Happy Birthday Bill
