Bring a friend and introduce them to our club!

Henry's Interview with St. John Ambulance
Past President Henry represented the Rotary Club of Richmond most brilliantly during an interview with St. John Ambulance Mon Mar 29th, 2021.  SJA had scheduled an interview time with our Club through our PR Chair Hugo.  Henry was asked about how Rotary got started, then more about our Club and about how the AED project evolved and developed.  He responded with great aplomb and in his calm and relaxed manner as he explained about determination of community need through the Board, and funding through our Lunar New Dinner of 2020.  Now with two such AED stations placed in Richmond Skytrain stations he highlighted the gravity of these defibrillators in potentially saving lives.

Fireside Chat with Dean Hsieh
In an informal, relaxed atmosphere, Richmond Rotarians got together to discuss our mission, values, strengths and weaknesses, moderated by Rotarian Dean Hsieh.

In an important discussion, Rotarians discussed how to build on our past successes, and improve Richmond Rotary club for the future. Important items such as how to increase our membership and how to engage those new members were addressed by the membership, particularly in light of the challenges of Covid-19.

Richmond Rotary has been very successful in the past in growing its membership, but it`s critical to continue finding ways to attract new members in the future. We need to be open to exploring and testing out different meeting structures or fees to potentially increase future membership.

Covid-19 has brought a number of challenges to an active, social group such as Rotary, but we have done a remarkable job in adapting. However, the lack of in-person events has made it difficult for some people to bond.

When we have fundraising projects, or when members raise ideas, we need to find a way to ensure all members participate. An active and engaged membership base is critical to the success of our club, and it`s important that we encourage all members to participate, or find a way to motivate members to get more engaged.

Rotary Global Rewards
Rotary Global Rewards is an exclusive member benefits program that offers Rotarians, Rotaractors, and alumni discounts on products and services and ways to give back to Rotary through their purchases. Members can also post their own offers and encourage local businesses to participate.

The Rewards program now has more than 1,800 offers, including offers from 800 Rotarian-owned businesses. The most popular categories are travel, shopping, entertainment, dining, and services. Find out detail at my.rotary.org/en/member-center/rotary-global-rewards

Do you have ideas for speakers?
Rotary often features exciting guest speakers who come speak to our group and teach us about a certain topic. They discuss their profession; community work; or a topic relevant to our community. It`s a great opportunity for Rotarians to learn more.

If you have a proposal for a guest speaker, contact jimmyj.yan@gmail.com and share your proposal. We are looking for more guest speakers in the next few weeks in particular - so the sooner the better!
