We were delighted to meet some new friends, Suhkhy Bisla, General Manger of CIBC; Alvin Leung, Associate Vice-President of CIBC and Gary Hsu guest of James Kao. Alvin is interested to find out more about Rotary.
Our speaker was Bill Lau, husband of member Cindy Lau. Both Bill and Cindy immigrated from oversea, Bill graduated from the University of Waterloo and Cindy graduated from Simon Fraser University.
After a visit to the beautiful British Columbia, Bill decided to settle in Vancouver and open his own company CBA Electrical and Security System Company in 1989. Bill gave us a brief history of how alarm system has advanced since the 1990's. Now it is not just an alarm to keep the burglars away but a full security system that can even save lives.
Rotary Cleans Richmond committee met on March 8, 2017 to discuss the event logo and the project. Committee members are Debbie Vance and Drew Antrobus from The Rotary Club of Richmond; Dave Rogers and Eric Wang from the Richmond Sunset Club; Laine Ferguson from the Richmond Sunrise Club; Bob Shoker from the Steveston Rotary Club and Assistant Governor Rick Lewell.
The Rotary Clean Richmond event will take place on Sunday April 30, 2017. After the Opening Ceremony at the Richmond Olympic Oval, teams of Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and volunteers will fan out over Richmond to clean the parks. Once the task is completed, the teams will meet back at the Oval for the Closing Ceremony and a Bar-B-Que.
On Saturday March 18, 2017 PE Debbie Vance and PEN Drew Antrobus represented The Rotary Club of Richmond at the District 5040 Training Assembly. It was a great day of learning and fellowship.
