Why People Join Volunteer Work
Very interesting discussion on our June 14 meeting, Pawandeep Parmar and Melody Su, students from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Richmond came to do a school research project. “Why people do volunteer work in the community and why do they join a service club like Rotary?”.

We had a good 40 minutes discussion on the topic with practically every attending member’s enthusiastic participation.  Attended Members were Juan Burry, Henry Lee, Eva Sun, Dean Hsieh, James Gao, Chak Au, Kenny Chiu, David Takahashi, and James Hsieh. Visiting Rotarian Otto Rieve, our club’s Past President also contributed a great deal during the focused conversation.

We have covered a lot of basics of Rotary with special emphasis on youth/ new generation services.  We hope Pawandeep and Melody got what they came for and good luck with their project.
Rotary Builds Friendship
Philip, Cecilia, Keith, Becky and their friends and family went on a British Isle and Iceland trip. Past President Wilbur joined them in Iceland. The hotel they stayed in happens to be a meeting venue for a local Rotary Club. Unfortunately they missed the meeting to do make up. Does taking a picture in front of the plague counts? We also had the opportunity to visit the Canadian Cemetery in Normandy and paid our respects.
