Partners in Care Alliance
Our speaker Tom Crean is third generation funeral director, after decades of serving families and communities across the city, Tom was disheartened by the lack of compassionate care amongst their profession. In 1994, he founded  the Partners in Care Alliance (PICA) society, with the objective to educate and connect professionals involved with end of life care. Since that time, PICA has grown to include leaders in faith groups, service clubs, hospices and unions. The message is simple: if people can have the conversation about their end of life arrangements in advance, before it is an emergency situation, those people will save their family plenty of time, stress and a LOT of money.  Together, Tom, Trevor and PICA have recently founded Metro Vancouver’s first new cemetery in 50 years. Heritage Gardens opened in South Surrey this past September, reinventing the role a cemetery can play in society.
