Wed Feb 26 Luncheon - Partners in Care Alliance (PICA) by Tom & Trevor Crean

Tom founded the Partners in Care Alliance (PICA) society, with the objective to educate and connect professionals involved with end of life care. The message is simple: if people can have the conversation about their end of life arrangements in advance, before it is an emergency situation, those people will save their family plenty of time, stress and a LOT of money.

Tom and Trevor Crean are third and fourth generation funeral directors from Vancouver. Tom was past President of Rotary Club of Vancouver and past District PR Chair.

The Rotary Club of Richmond will be holding a Table Tennis Tournament for Seniors on April 20 and 21, 2019. The purpose of the Tournament is to foster healthy, active and involved lifestyles for all Richmond residents, with emphasis on physical activity, healthy eating and mental wellness. It will be a fundraising to purchase and install outdoor table tennis tables in City Parks, which will enhance physical and social connectedness within and among neighbourhoods and communities.

Tournament will be held at the Bridgeport Sports Club, Richmond. The committee is currently working hard to get sponsorship in different levels. Please contact Suna if you have potential sponsors.

Tanzania Tree Planting Project
It is wonderful to learn how implementing planting strategies would make significant difference for local communities in

Karatu, Tanzania. Rotary club of whistler sponsored the project and responded to the requests from local communities to help plant some fruits and vegetables that would grow the local economy.  The results are very encouraging. Our speaker was Peter Ackhurst, a past D5040 Community Service Chair, he is a forester and lived and worked in Tanzania for 2 years.  He has been working on several global grant projects in Uganda over the past 10 years.

Our visiting Rotarian was Matt Gul from West Vancouver Sunrise.
