St. John Ambulance by Leanne Strachen
Leanne is the Manager, Partnerships & Fund Development (BC & Yukon Council), she will be giving us a presentation about St. John Ambulance, who they are and what they do.
St. John Ambulance was established in Canada in 1883. First first aid course in Canada is conducted in Quebec City that year. 1907 - October 12th marks the opening of the first St. John Ambulance training centre for first aid in Vancouver, BC, in conjunction with CPR (Canadian Pacific Rail).
Today, in more than 300 communities across Canada more than 10,000 St. John Ambulance volunteers provide over one million hours of community service per year. The financial contribution of St. John volunteers could be calculated in hundreds of millions of dollars.
