The Rotary Club of Richmond's Tribute to Seniors Gala has generated $350,000.

The gala, held on April 20, 2008, recognized the significant contributions and sacrifices made by our seniors. The evening's gala showed appreciation that Rotarians care - the community cares, as tribute was paid.

Joining the list of donors were Milan and Maureen Ilich, and Eugene H. Greczmiel and Family, who each donated $100,000, and an additional $50,000 was given by an anonymous donor.

Club President Peter Raju was thrilled and appreciative with the community's support. Raju said, with contributions such as this, we'll go a long way in improving the living conditions at various care facilities. The $350,000 will be used to upgrade facilities at the Lions Manor, the Rosewood Manor and the Rotary Hospice House.

President Raju, paid special tribute to Maureen and Milan for their support to many of the community's fundraising projects. Raju said that he was inspired by Maureen and Milan's kindness, generosity, and most importantly their appreciation for the work of volunteers and community leaders.
"Milan and Maureen are our true community leaders", said Raju. They have always been community minded, and wherever possible they always shared the blessings of their own success through their giving.

Over 300 guests, including Attorney General Wally Oppal, gave Milan and Maureen a standing ovation as Raju presented a Swarovski sculpture as a token of the community's appreciation.

Rotary also presented Paul Harris Fellowship Awards, Rotary's highest recognition, to Patsy and Hilary Hui, John Nicolaou, Max Fugman, the late Ben Dayson, and Jim Ratsoy for their community minded spirit.

MLA John Yap praised the Tribute to Senior Gala at the Legislature.

A recognition luncheon was held on June 25 to express our heartfelt thank you to the supporters....
