Dean Hsieh

Classification: Wealth Management (Queensbury), joined the Rotary Club of Richmond Mar 25, 2015, Club President 2018-2019, D5040 Rotarian of the Year 2019, Assistant District Governor 2020-2023

Dean is dedicated to service.  Throughout his career he has been involved and supportive in many community organizations.  Among these, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, Kinsman Club Calgary, City of Richmond Board of Variance, BC Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Chinese Consumers’ Association, Canadian Blood Service and of course Rotary Club of Richmond.

After joining Rotary in 2015, he immediately took on the role of Club Secretary and later, Rotary Foundation Chair.  He then attended Rotary Leadership Institute in preparation for his role of Club President 2018-2019.  We have Dean to thank for orchestrating Enchilada Night, a fundraiser for youth projects in Huauchinango, Mexico, which involved all four Rotary Clubs in Richmond.

Under Dean’s leadership, we enjoyed fundraising successes, 3 Pop Concerts, China International Cartoon Competition and a Paul Harris recognition event, again involving all four Rotary Clubs in Richmond.  To his credit significant sums were raised, $15,000 for Polio Eradication in 2018, $12,000 for Youth and Interact in 2019.   Such were his efforts, that the District awarded him “Rotarian of the Year” in 2019.

During his presidency, the club took on the task to rename our charitable society, Rotary Richmond Foundation.  It is to his credit that he introduced WhatsApp platform for active club communication.

Through his vocation as Financial Planner, he has built a large network of community and business associates, whom he promotes Rotary, Rotary projects and Rotary membership.  We are fortunate to welcome his referrals, namely Bill and Cindy Lau, Jimmy Yan and Hugo Li.

Dean Hsieh is a Rotarian.  He is all about service, involved at the club, on the committees and in the community.  He is the Assistant Governor for District 5040.  He is a Paul Harris Fellow.  And whilst he spends a great amount of effort and energy for the good of Rotary and the community, he still has a little time for pursuing interests in Toastmasters, skiing, golfing, swimming and instructing Qigong at the Seniors Centre.
