District 5040 End Polio Chair Gabor Gasztonyi presented a most compelling message about the fight to end polio.  His viewpoint comes from that of a polio victim, crippled in his childhood and having to go through life challenged by his disability.  Yet, he overcame those challenges to become an award winning photographer and author.  The pictures of his time in Ethiopia were riveting.  To see those children in various stages of polio treatments and surgeries was heartbreaking, yet also, inspiring.  Although disabled himself, he participated in a National Immunization Day, and today he told his story.

"Disability should not be a barrier of your success"

Thank you AG Dean for recommending Gabor, a great way to mark the Oct 24 World Polio Day. We remind everyone that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is matching $2 to each of our dollars to End Polio.  To donate, visit Rotary Foundation Canada and let's banish polio to the history books.

Also visiting today was Joanne Hildebrandt, RC of Kitimat, Danison Buan, RC of Burnaby, 3rd time visitors Zach Segal and Elizabeth Roach, Executor Director of Rotary Hospice.

Unfortunately our Sgt-at-Arms was squeezed for time and our usual round table for happy dollars had to be cut short.
