On March 15, 2025, the Rotary Club of Richmond hosted a warm and lively fellowship event featuring Mahjong and hotpot — a perfect combination of fun, tradition, and Rotary camaraderie.

We were honoured to welcome Jim Lin, President of the Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset, who joined us for the evening. His presence added to the spirit of connection and friendship between our two clubs.

For many, it was an evening of friendly competition, laughter, and learning — especially for our own member William Osei, who played Mahjong for the very first time. Guided by fellow members, William not only learned the game but also managed to score big wins — proving that beginner’s luck (and quick learning) is real!

Mahjong isn’t just a game — it’s also good for your brain. Studies show it improves memory, sharpens focus, and promotes social engagement, especially in group settings. It’s the kind of activity that brings people together, one tile at a time.

Alongside the game, members enjoyed a delicious hotpot meal prepared and hosted by our very own President Hugo Li. We thank Hugo for his hospitality and hard work in making sure everyone was well-fed and well taken care of. The meal perfectly captured the spirit of Rotary — sharing, connection, and community.

It was a night of laughter, learning, and lasting memories. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it a special evening!
