On October 30th, 2022, the Rotary Club of Richmond held it's annual table tennis tournament to raise money for a good cause.

The Rotary Club of Richmond's annual table tennis tournament was a resounding success.

Every year, the Rotary Club of Richmond raises money for a good cause through a table tennis tournament. Last year, we raised money for outdoor table tennis tables. This year, the club set a goal to raise $45,000 for an outdoor senior's outdoor fitness facility in a Richmond public park. This year did not disappoint with the  Club raising $4500 at this tournament! For the remainder, the club will apply for a $25,000 Horizons Seniors grant and raise the remainder at the Lunar New Year gala.
The tournament featured a competition, table tennis players from other clubs, and important dignitaries. A portion of the day was for a competitive tournament, and others played casually. Most importantly, it was an opportunity for Rotarians to gather together for a great cause.

In attendance were councilor Chak Au, Mayor Malcolm Brodie, and MLA Henry Yao.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants.

Our member Keith Tsukishima summed up the great day:

Do you notice when people get together, good things happen?
Rotary Club of Richmond organized a table tennis tournament for Oct 30th.
A portion of time was set aside for casual play….table tennis for fun.
We saw some faces at table tennis and the following dinner that we don’t see too often.
And something happened….people talked.
We shared some time to get better acquainted…..some laughs, some stories….bonding time.
We are not just names on the roster.
There are interesting stories behind those member pictures.
Today’s tournament was intended to help raise funds towards seniors exercise stations in city parks.
Perhaps that might be the goal and the intent, the big win for everyone is the camaraderie experienced at social functions.
When the club organizes events, it’s for us. Join in.
Participate.  Be part of the team.  Be part of the family.
