Dr. Steven Taylor took some time from his busy schedule to share with us his knowledge and expertise on the subject of ‘The Psychology of Pandemics’. He compared the dynamics, the impact, emotions and human behaviours of Covid-19 and the last 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic, the similarities and the differences. He explained and provided insight to our reactions and our behaviours to the pandemic and alleviate some of the anxiety and the panic. He answered questions on masks and social isolation and how can we best cope in these challenging times. He also provided a glimpse of what the post pandemic world going to look like.

Our Zoom meeting was very well attended, with 23 Rotarians and visitors logging on to hear our featured speaker Dr. Steven Taylor.  Amongst our visitors, Rotarian Chris Burroughs and her husband from Terrace Skeena Valley, Jim Ling from Richmond Sunset and Rotaractor Sabrina Tang.  Other visitors included Terry Harmony (Madeline's husband), Elizabeth Roach from Rotary Hospice, and Leanne a 3rd year microbiology student at U.Vic.  After a robust round of questions for Dr. Taylor, we ran out of time and our happy/sad dollars was cut short, and we missed everyone's weekly updates.

President James encouraged all club members to get involved with our current Sanitizer project, talk to friends and colleagues to sell more bottles of sanitizer.  The more we sell, the more bottles will be donated to Richmond Cares Richmond Gives and the low income folks they support.
