Shawn Wade Discusses the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in Canada and Rotary Board Meeting
The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II is expected to be marked in 2022 in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth - the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on 6 February 1952.

In the UK, a Platinum Jubilee medal will be created to mark the Jubilee. It will be awarded to people who work in public service, including representatives of the Armed Forces, the emergency services and the prison services.  This is similar to the Diamond Jubilee medal awarded in Canada in 2012.

A number of Canadians are encouraging the Government of Canada to create an award to honor the Platinum Jubilee.

A petition was even recently created that "calls upon the Minister of Canadian Heritage to maintain tradition, respect this unique and momentous celebration of Her Majesty's long and illustrious tenure and indeed make plans to create a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal with which to extend her Majesty's Grace in awarding recognition to outstanding Canadians deserving of such a medal."  https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-3310
