Cynthia Lam delivered a presentation on sustainability and intercultural harmony. She is involved in a number of groups that promote a better understanding of different cultures, and using that knowledge to promote more sustainable environmental practices. Cynthia's long term vision is to advocate and promote multicultural sustainability, with the goal to have more immigrants communities join in force, encouraged by their own brand of sustainability. And equally important, for mainstream society to recognize this as a positive force Cynthia speaks with authority on this topic as a Member of the Order of Canada - awarded for her passion for and dedication to equality and cultural diversity. Richmond is a remarkably diverse city, home to immigrants from around the world. Cynthia's discussion of intercultural harmony and collaboration is an important topic for Richmond Rotary. Rotary is promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, so the message of the meeting was highly relevant. Cynthia's groups, Roots and Shades, are non-profits that work with all age groups to support and work with different cultural groups in the Lower Mainland with a focus on sustainability.
