Wed Mar 20 Luncheon - Dragon Dancing by Ken Low

For the past 39 years, Ken and has been hosting the “Can-Am International Martial Arts Championships” annually in the Greater Vancouver area. This event helped promote the sport, health, and fitness. It also brings thousands of athletes and coaches to Greater Vancouver.

Ken also served as Chairman of the Chinese Freemason Senior Housing Society, President of the Vancouver Metropolitan Lions Club, Secretary General of the Chinese Community Policing Centre, Instructor of the Vancouver Police Department Lion Dancing Team, etc.

Rotary Leadership Institute Part I & II
By popular demand, Rotary Leadership Institute is back. It is one of the ways Rotarians can learn leadership skills, more about the world of Rotary and create new fellowships along the way. These facilitated session are very interactive and enjoyable.
 
Note: Our club will pay for our members to attend all 3 Parts. We encouraged all members to take all parts to find out more about Rotary. You have to finish Part 1 before you can attend Part II.
 
Happy St Patrick's Day
Members had lots of fun celebrating early St. Patrick's Day on Wed March 13. They enjoyed a treat at the Cavu, a hearty and delicious lunch with chicken, sausage and pasta.
 
 
Rotary Vocational Team for Kenya
The Rotary Club of Richmond is sponsoring Jason Chow , Physics teacher from Richmond Secondary to join the District 5040 Vocational Training team. The team leaves for Kenya on Saturday, March 16th. 
 
PDG John Anderson will lead the group of six middle and secondary teachers to the Wamanyu and Kyaithani areas south east of Nairobi. They will be visiting rural schools and the teachers will conduct a series of four teacher workshops on 21st Century Learning Skills and in particular, the value and benefits of Teaching with Technology.
 
This VTT is a first for our District and is made possible by a Global Grant from The Rotary Foundation, a grant from the Government of Canada through TRF Canada and the generous financial support of 31 Rotary Clubs in District 5040. Our partners on this VTT are the Rotary Club of Karen - Nairobi (Host Club), The Rotary Club of Machakos, Kenya Connect (KC an NGO supporting schools in rural Kenya) and South East Kenya University (SEKU). The workshops will take place at Kenya Connect's Learning Centre and the team will address staff and students in the Faculty of Education at SEKU.

RYLA North - April 25 to 28

RYLA North is District 5040's premier leadership program for participants aged 19 to 30.  Located at Camp Friendship in beautiful Northern BC (Prince George), this is an amazing opportunity to enhance leadership and communication skills, meet and collaborate with Rotarian leaders and make some lifelong friends. Funded by Local Rotary Clubs.
