How our Foundation money works

Garry Shearer is Past District Governor of District 5040 and incoming District Director for The Rotary Foundation.  He was our speaker for Feb 3rd and provided an overview of how giving to the Foundation does so much for people around the world.  There are 3 main "buckets" where donations can be directed, End Polio, The Annual Share Fund or the Permanent Fund.  He explained how matching grants can work and the benefits of how matching grants can assist clubs expand their initiatives.  Garry also spoke of Paul Harris Fellows and how Rotarians can be benefactors by bequeathing something in their wills.  He urged Rotarians to give what they can to our own Foundation and try to achieve the goal of Every Rotarian Every Year.

Foundation Dinner was Huge Success

Chair Tom Smith reported that 235 Rotarians, Rotaractors and guests attended our Bollywood Nights Foundation Dinner.  To say is was a success was an understatement.  With the Bill and Melinda Gates 2 for 1 matching and the Government 2 for 1 matching as well it appears as though the dinner will be well over $100,000.  He extends his thanks to all members of the Rotary Club Richmond for the gift baskets, the bottles of wine and their support.

Philip and Cecilia, David and Kei, Henry and Anita, Dean and Susanna, Chris and Arlene, James and Agnes, Keith, Barbara and Ken, Debbie, Udo, James and Shanna attended and represented the Rotary Club of Richmond.  Thanks for your support, we were far and away the largest contingent at the Foundation Dinner.  We saw and met many familiar faces and a few new ones too.  It was great to see so many Rotaractors join in this year.
