The Sky's No Limit - Girls Fly Too!

GF2_Logo

Kirsten is the founder of this great community initiatives to inspire females of all ages into aviation, aerospace and space. Their events are family-friendly, and completely free thanks to the support of community-minded partners! In four years nearly 20,000 have participated and over 4,100 females have received a free introductory flight in a small aircraft. This year they held the event at Abbotsford International where 10,000 people participated, including the Lieutenant Governor of BC and a NASA Astronaut.

The 2016 event incorporates national and international participation, and they look forward to NASA/CSA representation, along with the RCMP, RCAF, RCN, Canadian Coast Guard, Air Cadets and many more. Additionally, Kirsten is working towards launching an unprecedented year-round project with national and international significance, which employs aviation and aerospace to intrigue and inspire more females in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and STEM-based trades. Kirsten would love to include more Rotary members in their future activities!

As an Airline Transport rated pilot (airplanes and helicopters) with over 23 years aviation experience, Kirsten has many stories to share about the journey. In addition to flying all over Canada (and beyond) Kirsten has been Chief Pilot, Operations Manager and Training Pilot for several charter air service companies, as well as business partner in her own start-up airline and maintenance company for four and a half years. Kirsten has written many articles about her bush flying escapades and these have been published in various trade publications in Canada and the US.
