Veteran - Veteran services by Chevalier Allan Plett, KCStG

Allan Plett spent 15 years in the Canadian Forces. He served from 1972-1988 with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada and attained the rank of Warrant Officer.

He then spent 25 years as Paramedic in British Columbia. During that period, he also operated two small businesses, one a Martial Arts School (he is a 7th degree black belt) and the other a Shiatsu Therapy, Acupressure and Reflexology clinic.

His many awards include British Columbia Ambulance Service Commendation Award for Bravery and the New Westminster Police Board Certificate of Merit for Bravery.

His many volunteer activities include serving as Past President Agira Unit, Vice President Savio Unit, Road Captain Moro Unit and current Operations Officer for the Western Canada Formation of the Canadian Army Veteran Motorcycle Unit.

The Order of St. George, Grand Priory of Canada and the Americas

The Order of St. George is a Chivalric Order whose Mission is “to better the health and well-being of members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans and their families, and supports the Canadian Cadet and Junior Ranger Programs.”

The Grand Priory of Canada and the Americas of the Order of St. George was first established in 2003 in Niagara Falls, Ontario and continues a tradition that dates back to the 14th century. King Károly Róbert of Hungary (1288-1342), also known as Charles Robert, Duke of Anjou, founded the Fraternal Society of Knighthood of St George as the first monarchical, chivalric and secular order of its kind. While the exact date is lost to history, there is evidence that the Society was in existence in 1326 on St. George’s Day, now celebrated annually on April 23rd. Indeed, the story of St. George as a legend of Christian martyrdom informs the chivalric ideals that underpin our Order. Today our members are drawn from all walks of life and reflect the great diversity of our society. What joins us is our common cause of helping people in need.

Allan has contributed countless efforts to charities such as Citadel Canine Society, which supports PTSD service dogs for veterans and first responders, Ride for Dad and Ride to Live in support of Prostate Cancer and the Annual Memorial Ride for the Fallen for Afghan veterans and Silver Cross families.
