 | Donation to Rotary Hospice House in memory of David No celebration of life by request of the Takahashi family. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to "Rotary Hospice House" in memory of David. Donation tax receipts will be sent out February 2023. Donations can be made in the following ways:

He served the Rotary Club of Richmond as Treasurer 2002-2005, Vice President 2007-8 and 2017-18 and as Youth Service Chair for several years. Under his leadership, Rotaract was never stronger. David also served the club through many years on Golf Committees, Fund Raising Dinner Committees and Board positions. You could always count on Dave and his wife Kei attending and supporting Rotary events and socials. You could always count on Dave for practical guidance on Rotary Club of Richmond budgets and business plans. Dave was one of the six standing members at the Club’s lowest ebb and he stayed steadfast through our resurgence.
After a valiant fight, his health gave way early Sep 5th, 2022. He passed quietly in his sleep surrounded by his loving family.

David joined our club after one of our members Bill Foster asked him to join a club meeting. David's most unforgettable event was raising $1,600 on Jun 7, 2001, giving up his long time beard. During one of the President’s dinners, members gleefully took turns to shave off his beard.
Professionally David has his own law firm in Richmond, he graduated from University of British Columbia Law School, LL.B. He received a Masters degree in Urban Renewal before going into law. David enjoyed travel and visit museums. He traveled abroad as often as possible. He and Kei took many long trips together and explored all corners of the globe….even Antarctica. What you might not know, in his time, he served on the Board of the North Fraser Port Authority and Rotary Hospice House.
Rotary builds lifelong friendships....For over 20 years, David and his wife Kei, fellow Rotarian Philip and his wife Cecilia had been meeting up every Saturday morning for a weekly walk and brunch, occasionally they are joined by Mahase and his wife Zorina.

One Rotarian friend expressed at late 2021 dinner at his home, “we should do this again soon”. Dave was quick to respond with something like “these are just words and we HAVE to do it”. In the hospital Dave said, and I will paraphrase, “there were times when we had choices, to spend a bit more, go somewhere, do things and see people. Before it’s too late, we ought not let those times pass us by”.
Rotary Club of Richmond owes much to David Takahashi. He was a reliable supporter, always at fundraisers, meetings, events and socials. He served the club on the Board and in Club Leadership. He was there through the challenging years for the Hospice House and for the club’s recent success. Whilst perhaps quiet and reserved, he was a worker and contributor, in a word a “ROCK”.
