On Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, Lorne Calder (Past District Governor of District 5040), presented four prestigious awards to the Rotary Club of Richmond and congratulated our club on an extremely successful year.
Our events and fundraising go to good causes like humanitarian relief in Ukraine, or ending Polio. It was a honor to be recognized for our hard work by our good friend Lorne Calder.
The Rotary Citation:
Out of 36,000 Rotary club, only 3300 club have achieved the Rotary Citation. The Rotary Citation is the most significant award a Rotary club can achieve.
A club earns a Rotary Citation for achieving goals that strengthen Rotary and it's club including membership, developing projects, and donations to Rotary Foundation. Specifically, a club must set and achieve its own goals in 13 out of 25 Goal Categories.
Richmond Rotary achieved its goals, strengthened our club, and set out plans for a strong future.
This is the second year in a row Rotary has achieved a Rotary Citation!
The Certificate of Appreciation:
The Certificate of Appreciation is awarded based on financial support for the End Polio Now campaign. The certificate is awarded to clubs who raise over $10,000 USD.
Polio Plus:
The Rotary Club of Richmond achieved a Major Donor Level 1 by raising nearly $13,000 for Polio Plus. From Mid Autumn festival dinners, to other fundraisers, the Rotary Club of Richmond has always prioritized raising money for one of Rotary's most important initiatives - ending Polio.
Shelter Box Hero:
The Shelter Box Hero award (Silver) recognizes clubs that has given over $5000 to Shelter Box. Shelter Box provides emergency shelter to those who have lost their homes to disaster or conflict. Most recently shelter box has provided support in the most vulnerable disaster and conflict regions including the floods in Pakistan, the conflict in Ukraine, or the drought in the Horn of Africa.
